Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and Jared Ng ("Pathfolio", "we") for your use of the Pathfolio app. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
1. Education only, not financial advice
Pathfolio teaches general personal finance concepts. Nothing in the app is financial, investment, tax or legal advice:
- it isn't a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any product;
- it doesn't take your personal circumstances into account.
Examples, figures and scenarios are illustrations only. Before making financial decisions, consider your own situation, and where appropriate get advice from a licensed professional. Investing involves risk, including the loss of money.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use Pathfolio.
- Keep your login details safe. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- Give accurate information, and choose a username that isn't offensive or impersonating someone else.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app.
3. Coins, hearts and other in-app items
- Coins ("Path Tokens"), hearts, streaks, badges and wardrobe items are part of the game. They have no monetary value, can't be exchanged for money, and can't be transferred.
- We may adjust how they work, for example rewards and prices, to keep the app fair and balanced.
- If we find cheating or abuse (such as automated play or exploiting bugs), we may reset or remove these items, or suspend the account.
4. Acceptable use
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Don't:
- choose a username that's offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening, or that impersonates someone else or Pathfolio;
- harass, bully or threaten other users;
- misuse the app or try to break its security;
- reverse-engineer it, or access it in ways we don't provide;
- use it for anything unlawful.
Reporting and blocking: tap anyone on a leaderboard or friend request to report or block them. We review reports within 24 hours. We may rename a username, remove someone from leaderboards and friend search, or suspend or close the account of anyone who breaks these rules.
5. Content
- Our content: the lessons, questions, artwork and characters (including Sprout) belong to us or our licensors. You may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial learning.
- Accuracy: we work to keep the content accurate and current, but finance rules and markets change, and the content may contain errors.
6. Availability and changes
- Availability: we may update, change or discontinue features. We don't guarantee the app will always be available or error-free.
- Changes to these terms: we may update them. If the changes are significant, we'll tell you in the app, and continuing to use it means you accept them.
7. Liability
- Consumer law: nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't be excluded.
- Our limit: to the extent the law allows, we're not liable for any financial decisions you make, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months and AUD $100.
8. Ending your use
- You: you can stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
- Us: we may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
